Chuck; Good idea. Who is connecting and who isn't? Can you change my password so I can try with mine? And send it just to me. Look below these appear to be connecting to and get response back from the Oracle server. Chuck, do you agree? ------------------------------------------------------- sqlplus jnikam1@acad111 SQL*Plus: Release 18.0.0.0.0 - Production on Tue Sep 14 11:39:46 2021 Version 18.3.0.0.0 Copyright (c) 1982, 2018, Oracle. The problem must be when hramesh1 connects from server harveyv. We've had a few problem reports, which leads me to ask, is any other student's account working correctly from harveyv? Or do none of the userirds work correctly from harveyv? What userids do work correctly, so that we can compare ones that don't work with ones that do work? > > On 9/14/21 10:45 AM, Jayesh Satish Nikam wrote: >> Hello Charles, >> >> PFA, mail from Hem Kumar Ramesh. Mark Twain Hello Jayesh, I proved that the database userid nnavkar1 works successfully on database acad111 in the below email chain. So there must be something wrong with the Linux userid nnavkar1 on server harveyv. Because of that, I'm copying Craig Houck to see if he can test nnavkar1 from harveyv, and compare with other student userid's on harveyv that work OK. (Craig, currently the student is getting the error message: ORA-12170: TNS: Connect timeout occurred, from harveyv -- see below. Also, in the below email chain, you will see that I proved the dataase userid nnavkar1 works successfully on database acad111 from server castor). - > The userid works OK, so there may be something wrong with the user's account setup or .profile on harveyv, if it still does not work. I reset the original password and tested the database userid and it works OK as follows (I reset it to the original password when all done testing): > ============================================================================= > [acad111]-oracle@castor:~/admin/tools/scripts$ sqlplus /nolog > > SQL*Plus: Release 12.1.0.2.0 Production on Mon Sep 13 20:44:16 2021 > > Copyright (c) 1982, 2014, Oracle.
