Day 3 - Morning Session

February 16, 2026

Directory Reorganization & Episode 2 Progress

📋 Session Overview

Short morning session focused on organizational structure and beginning Episode 2 content creation. Encountered bash tool issues that provided a real-world example of technical collaboration challenges.

✅ Completed

Directory Structure Enhancement

  • Created building-in-public/ directory for session diaries
  • Moved existing diary files (Day 1 & Day 2) into new structure
  • Updated project-diary.html to reflect new paths
  • Added Day 3 entry placeholder

Episode 2 Content - Working with AI

  • Created complete working-with-ai.html covering:
    • Core Collaboration Skills (4 topics)
    • Practical Techniques (4 topics)
    • Managing the Relationship (4 topics)
  • Integrated all requested content areas
  • Added cross-links to efficiency multiplier case study
  • Maintained consistent styling with existing pages

Strategic Planning

  • Identified need for collaboration/index.html landing page
  • Planned efficiency-multiplier.html as separate case study
  • Decided on "Building in Public" as transparency theme

🔧 Technical Challenges

Bash Tool Issues: Encountered persistent errors with bash_tool and file creation tools during the session. This actually makes for excellent real-world content - AI collaboration isn't always smooth, and technical issues happen even in the tools themselves!

Workaround: Switched to providing HTML content in code blocks for direct copy/paste. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one.

Educational Value: This experience reinforces key points in the "Working with AI" content about:

  • Adapting when tools don't work as expected
  • Finding alternative approaches
  • Maintaining productivity despite technical setbacks
  • The reality that both humans and systems have limitations

📝 Key Decisions

Content Organization

  • Decision: Create dedicated collaboration landing page
  • Rationale: Efficiency multiplier case study needs a home, and the Building in Public concept deserves proper introduction
  • Impact: Better structure for showcasing the AI collaboration methodology

Episode 2 Structure

  • Decision: Separate efficiency multiplier from main working-with-ai.html
  • Rationale: Keeps the how-to guide focused while allowing deep-dive case study
  • Impact: More modular, easier to navigate content

🎯 Still To Do

Immediate (PM Session)

  • Create efficiency-multiplier.html case study
  • Create collaboration/index.html landing page
  • Update main navigation to point to new collaboration hub
  • Create use-case-documentation.html (Episode 2)
  • Create lessons-learned.html (Episode 2)

Later

  • Episode 3: How Does an AI Work?
  • Remaining episodes (4-5)
  • Additional styling enhancements

💡 Insights

The Real-World Nature of AI Collaboration

Today's bash tool issues provided an unexpected but valuable lesson: AI collaboration happens in the real world, with real systems that have real limitations. Just like working with any technology stack, you need to be flexible and adapt when things don't work as expected.

Content Quality Over Speed

Even with technical delays, we created comprehensive, well-structured content for working-with-ai.html. The focus remained on quality and completeness rather than rushing through just to finish.

Building in Public Works

The decision to document these sessions transparently continues to prove valuable. This diary entry itself demonstrates the iterative, problem-solving nature of real project work.
