Hi;
I have set up an account on the server you will be sftp/scp'ing files to/from.
I do not know you level of expertise so if I explain things you know, sorry!!!
I will need the IP or IP ranges that you will be connecting to our server from, before you can do any of he commands I have noted here.
<username>@cod.binghamton.edu - <temp pw>
An sshd key exchange will need to be done.
We are using OpenSSH_7.4p1, OpenSSL 1.0.2k-fips.
While the version may appear old, RHEL/OEL does backporting of security updates.
Nnce I have the IP's I requestd above on the edge & server f/w..
If you can run the commands below on the server you will be using then this will be very easy.
I can do phone support (607 777 6827) or in the unlikely event I can go on your server I can do it for you.
ssh-keygen
Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/home/pqtheses/.ssh/id_rsa):
Created directory '/home/pqtheses/.ssh'.
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):
Enter same passphrase again:
Your identification has been saved in /home/pqtheses/.ssh/id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in /home/pqtheses/.ssh/id_rsa.pub.
The key fingerprint is:
SHA256:NSaVXRdQgqU7BKpiZxdFbUNA10zxN/ZMKMRVoUT+bYo pqtheses@cod.binghamton.edu
The key's randomart image is:
+---[RSA 2048]----+
o*=*O@*==
o.+**o+o
o. =ooo.+o
. .+....oo=
o + .S o .=
. + . .. o
E .

+----[SHA256]-----+
and then
ssh-copy-id <username>@cod.binghamton.edu
and to test it.
sftp <username>@cod.binghamton.edu
... which should go in w/o a password request.
I did not remove the .ssh directory that was created by ssh-keygen so your ssh-copy-id has a place to write the file!
