--- SS SAS Answer ---

Devin has been reviewing your responses and has some questions. Figured an email might be the faster way to answer them. Please see below:

Line 13 – are the compat libraries listed not installed? I know in RHEL these are sometimes in another yum repo. Are they available?

I thought I indicted in the notes I can get those. If not from a repo then as a RPM.

Line 17 – is this package available?

I indicated it is installed: libpng12-1.2.50-10.el7.x86_64

Line 19 – Python 2.7.5 should work, but would this be an opportunity to move to 3.x?

I indicated in the notes we can change to python by changing the symbolic link.

Line 21/22 – can the command be re-run with the user accounts tied to LASR and the SAS Installer account?

As I indicated those user accounts saslsradm and sasowner do not exist.

Line 24 – can at be installed?

Sorry at is installed. We do not typically use at to schedule jobs.

Line 28 – We will need at least the values listed if not greater. The Soft “Stack Size” limit is too small.

I was planning on changing those values just before the install when we are together.

Line 67-72 – Can you provide a high level overview of the physical storage being used. Such as, internal drives, RAID Array, NAS, SAN, etc. Are SASWork and the binary files on separate drives or I/O channels so as to not interfere with the system performance?

We use iSCSI from a compellent storage unit using multipath.
SASWORK which we call /SASTMP is a 1TB Lun.
I am not sure what you mean by BINARIES. Our SAS install is on a 1TB LUN

Line 75 – I see (and this probably affects Line 67-72) that luns are being created. I just want to be sure that they are set up and laid down in the best way for performance. Just in general, the more separated storage can be, the better off you will be. An example would be, 1 drive (or LUN) for the OS, 1 drive for the SAS binaries, 1 drive for the SAS configuration, 1 drive for SAS Work, x# of drives for permanent datasets.

I have a lot of data collected and some questions for you.
I expected we would have a ZOOM to discuss this and other pre for the install.
I was going to ask about LUN's and sizes and mounts points at that time.
