Follow these directions precisely and your pages will appear.
The nomenclature <fill in your value> is done to make it stand out. DO NOT include the leading < and trailing >.
For example <file name>.html might become index.html or myinfo.html

1. Login to your account…
   HOSTNAME: harveyv.binghamton.edu
   • Windows to Linux:
     • Install an SSH/SFTP GUI…
       Try: Secure Shell Client at the BU FTP Site. OR MobaX
     
     
   • Apple/MAC to Linux:
     • Install the Terminus GUI from the Apple Store.
     • From a terminal window you can do a command line ssh: ssh <your user id>@harveyv.binghamton.edu.
     
     
   • Linux to Linux:
     • cd <directory where your html files are stored>
     • ssh <your user id>@harveyv.binghamton.edu
     
     
   • Putty/Bitvise clients are popular SSH GUIs.
   
    
   
2. Once in a command line/terminal window.
   1. Create a public_html directory…
      • mkdir public_html
      • chmod 755 public_html
      • Check it : ls -ltrod public_html
        Which should look like : drwxr-xr-x 40 943 Jan 2 12:42 public_html/
        
      • cd public_html
        This is where the files that make up your website must be located.
       
      
   2. After html pages are created or sftp'd to your site in public_html…
      • chmod 755 <filename>.html
      • Check it : ls -ltrod <filename>.html
        Which should look like : drwxr-xr-x 40 943 Jan 2 12:42 filename.html
