  1. cd to where the tools are (might be /root/VMTOOLS )
  2. mv vmware-tools-distrib vmware-tools-distrib-<current version>
  3. wget http://centosone.binghamton.edu/Upload/VMwareTools-<newest version>.tar.gz
  4. tar xvf VMwareTools-<newest version>.tar.gz
  5. mv vmware-tools-distrib vmware-tools-distrib-<newest version>
  6. cd vmware-tools-distrib-<current version>
  7. bin/vmware-uninstall-tools.pl      ### follow the prompts
  8. cd ../vmware-tools-distrib-<newest version>
  9. ./vmware-install.pl      ##follow the prompts
  10. vmware-toolbox-cmd -v
